Artwork
I made paintings out of nail polish as a girl, and have been writing poetry since I was a teenager. I fell in love with video and what was called "new media" art in the late 1990s. Creative practice has been a site of pleasure, pain, play, gendered archiving, and healing process as I have navigated life. Knowledge of this power is what inspired me to work with girls of color through feminist community arts. My scholarship is inspired by art and vice versa. I intentionally move within this loop through projects that are aimed at generating relations with other femmes, queers, and outsiders of color.
