About
Rebel Quinceañera Collective is a project that utilizes art, music, photography, creative writing, filmmaking, and charlas to activate spaces for self-expression and radical education by and for youth of color in San Diego. Grounded in woman of color feminism, the project is mujerista at heart and seeks to challenge the constant policing of women and girls’ voices and bodies. We complicate the notion of “good” versus “bad” girl and womanhood through creativity, and are unapologetic about our rebellious bodies. We do not care if people perceive us as fitting a stereotype. We do not care if people perceive us as not fitting their standards and ideals. We love each other and ourselves just the way we are: loud, raunchy, gordita, nalgonas, and working-class.
